Earlier this week we went camping with my Grandparents in beautiful Pine Valley. It was so nice to get away from everything and enjoy the fresh air. Nixon had a blast playing in the dirt and gathering sticks. He even went fishing for the first time. Did we catch anything? Well no... but it was still fun.
What did we do in the mountains? Well, let me tell you. We went on a bear hunt and of course along the way recited, "We're going on a bear hunt. We're going to catch a big one. What a beautiful day! We're not scared. (One of Nixon's favorite books.) Nixon would reassured me by saying, "I'm not scared Ma" ohhh good I'm glad. We ate a lot of delicious food and snacked on junk and candy all day long (camping rule). Of course we made a teepee out of long sticks and sat outside and played card games. Of course it started to rain right as we were setting the food out on the table for dinner. And of course there was a big leak in the tent and soaked the floor and everything in it. And of course I took way too many pictures.
Fishin' in the rain.
He's such a romantic.
I love my Sister's.
Nix and Papa.
High fashion poncho aka trash bag.
One of the days we were up there, it poured buckets of rain. The thunder and lightening was sooo close, it was so fun! I love thunderstorms. Right before the thunder storm started, the boys were out playing and making mud pies. We were all in the trailer when the first LOUD thunder hit. I realized that Nixon was probably freaking out so I ran out to him and found him scrunched up in a little ball, screaming and terrified. It was so sad. After I calmed him down he looks up at me and says, "Mama, I don't like the thunder. Go away thunder!" I tried to make it seem not so scary by saying crazy things like,"wow that was so cool did you hear that?!" or, "oh my goodness that was so awesome". My little Sister Kylie told him that it was just Jesus playing the drums.
